X-ray (venography)
- Not performed at Unilab departments
Ultrasound
- With suspected deep venous thrombosis in vena poplitea and vena femoralis
NB: The deep veins of the lower leg are not suitable for ultrasound examination.
CT (angiography)
- With suspected pelvic venous thrombosis
- Chronic pulmonary embolism
NB: If there is a strong suspicion of acute pulmonary embolism, the patient should be referred to hospital.
MRI (angiography)
- Suspected venous sinus thrombosis
